United Way understands that you really want to make a difference in your area and we want to help you do that. It takes a whole community working together to have lasting impact and change lives. So we bring together local human service agencies, municipal governments, school departments and other funding organizations, and invest in the programs that address the most demonstrated community need.

Using a system unique to United Way, volunteers who live and work in each of our 34 communities annually decide where funds are invested. This “citizen review process” invests your contributions in programs that Keep Kids on Track or provide a Community Safety Net.

Keeping Kids on Track

Ensuring every child in the next generation has the chance to reach their potential is very important to the United Way of Tri-County. We believe that every kid should be given the opportunity to succeed. It is important that children are healthy, confident and develop self esteem. Strong, caring adult role models are the key to making this happen. To ensure that every child in our service area has the opportunity to succeed we invest heavily in the following focus areas:

  • Pre-School Preparedness
  • Child & Adolescent Wellness
  • Mentoring
  • Counseling
  • Academic Assistance
  • Citizenship Development

Community Safety Net

The United Way of Tri-County works with its partners to provide a safety net of services for those who need help the most within the community. By providing support for emergency situations and finding long term solutions, we build a better and stronger community.

  • Response to Emergency & Crisis
  • Family & Peer Violence Intervention
  • Food, Clothing & Shelter
  • Ending Homelessness
  • Support of Capital Projects
  • Venture Grants
