Gifts in Kind is a public/private partnership for community investment that provides additional
resources as it brings together retail companies, corporations, nonprofits, and individuals. This
unique partnership offers a variety of opportunities for companies to donate materials, equipment
and supplies that may not otherwise be available to a non-profit. The United Way of Tri-County is
the conduit that brings these community assets together.
The United Way of Tri-County participates in a retail donation program through Gift in Kind
International, which provides a variety of materials and services from nationally recognized
companies located in our regional service area. In addition, we receive many requests from local
companies and corporations expressing an interest in donating equipment such as desks, computers,
and other types of office supplies to local organizations.

The Holiday Gift Giving Program has been a hallmark program for more than a decade and continues
to bring people together to help provide for those less fortunate. Participants "adopt" a child,
teen, individual or a family and purchase new toys, clothing, household items or personal articles
from a "wish list" that has been made available through one of our community partner or affiliate
agencies from the recipient. Through this program, employees, families, and individuals exemplify
the spirit of giving; and their involvement in this worthwhile endeavor brings the joy of the season
to all who participate.
If you would like more information about this program, please contact the Director of Community
Investment, Donna Jackson, at 888-811-3291, ext. 28.

Back to School Backpack Program: In addition the United Way of Tri-County operates this program
that provides new backpacks for children and youth. These new backpacks are filled with school
supplies to help prepare them for success throughout the coming year. This annual program has been
highly successful and compliments our Success by Six and Keeping Kids on Track initiatives.
If you would like more information about these direct programs, please contact the Director
of Community Investment, Donna Jackson, at 888-811-3291, ext. 28.
